The Garmin GPSMap 76CSx is a Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) navigation device that helps give you a sense of security on hikes or trips. Its features include an electronic compass, barometric altimeter, turn-by-turn directions and microSD card slot. The 76CSx allows you to downloaded maps for the United States and Europe, and also alerts you if challenging locations, such as deep canyons or heavy tree covers, are ahead on your route. If you prefer, you may connect your Garmin device to your computer to transfer maps and software to your device.
Step 1
Install the software that came with your Garmin 76CSx device. Insert the disc into your computer's drive. Read and accept the software agreement.
Step 2
Save the software to a folder on your computer's hard drive. Allow your computer to restart.
Step 3
Lift the protective cover from the back of your Garmin device. Insert the smaller end of the USB connector into the port.
Step 4
Insert the other end of the USB cable into an available USB port on your computer. Wait for the 'Device Detected' message to pop up.
Garmin 76s Maps
Click the message in the lower right corner of your computer. It will install the drivers that allow your computer to communicate with your Garmin device. You now have connected your device to your computer.
Warning
- Do not disconnect your Garmin from your computer when transferring files or synchronizing maps. This will damage your device
